In certain situations, you may be able to get help with your legal fees from the Legal Aid Agency (LAA). This is called “Legal Aid”. How much help will depend on the issues in your case and/ or your financial situation. In some situations, you will still have to make a contribution to your legal costs.
If Children’s Services are involved with your children, you may be entitled to legal aid no matter what your income is.
If you need protection from an abusive partner, want a divorce, or need help resolving matters about your children, legal aid may be granted if your income is low and you are able to supply other supporting evidence.
Please contact a member of our Family or Child Law team for full details and a legal aid assessment.
