Churchers Solicitors has warned that the housing market is currently moving slower than ever before.
The stamp duty holiday and the COVID restrictions placed on workplaces has slowed down the conveyancing process with a backlog on local authority searches. The Land Registry and some local authorities are currently experiencing delays due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Managing Partner, Ian Robinson, said: “We are seeing a real slow down in the conveyancing process despite having new processes in place to enable us to keep working during this unusual time. This is having an impact on our timescales regarding property transactions, however we will keep as up to date as possible on the progress of your registration.
We would urge anyone still hoping to take advantage of the stamp duty holiday to consider these delays. If the holiday is not extended then it could leave many buyers disappointed and potentially put the brakes on many house sales.”
