Amelia graduated from the University of Reading in Law LLB in 2023 and then went on to complete the LPC and LLM at the University of Law in Reading and Bloomsbury.

Amelia’s experience in law started with a week of work experience at Churchers and she returned each year in her summer holidays. She experienced multiple areas which the firm offers, like Crime which enhanced her interest in the law and established a passion for choosing a legal career. Engaging with Hannah Jones in the Crime department about the biggest inadequacies of the criminal justice system she was impelled to undertake her dissertation on the “Development of Mental Health Services in the Prison Sector: An investigation of the governance of treatment for offenders who suffer with mental health disorders”.

Amelia also spent time in the Family department, and she thoroughly enjoyed learning a lot from Louise Jack, as she witnessed Louise in a variety of cases navigate people in highly emotional and sensitive situations during significant life changes. Her experiences in the Family department spurred her to write her LLM dissertation on the extent to which the current law on surrogacy in England and Wales protects the interests of the child involved, the surrogate mother and the intended parents.

Most of her time at Churchers was spent working for Alanna White and Lauren Macintosh in assisting people through important and difficult matters during and after their lifetime. The Wills and Probate department truly enhanced her passion for the law and motivation to become a trainee at Churchers.

In her spare time Amelia enjoys running at her local athletics club, hiking, horse riding, canoeing, and country pursuits.

I look forward to experiencing new areas of practise to further my knowledge and understanding which I will use to build a strong foundation in my legal career. Additionally, I look forward to immersing myself in charity work and fundraisers supported by the firm.”
