Madeleine qualified as a solicitor in 2008 and has since worked at a number of highly regarded law firms across Oxfordshire, before relocating to the Isle of Wight and joining Churchers in 2024.

Madeleine has gained considerable experience in a variety of family law matters, including divorce and separation, financial arrangements, children matters, and pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements. In recognition of Madeleine’s experience, she is accredited by the Law Society for Family Law.

Specialisms

Madeleine has experience acting for mid- and high-net-worth individuals, as well as individuals with modest assets and income. She also has significant experience representing parents and grandparents in complex private law children matters, including cases involving domestic abuse, findings of fact, parental alienation, high conflict and intractable disputes.

In 2022, Madeleine trained as a collaborative lawyer. This enables her to offer clients an alternative and constructive approach to resolving issues arising from relationship breakdown through face-to-face negotiations and joint meetings, rather than hostile court battles. This approach can offer key advantages, including reduced stress, lower costs and greater personal control over the final agreement.

Approach

Madeleine believes that it is possible to make a positive choice to separate in a non-confrontational manner and agree child-focused outcomes. She promotes non-court options wherever possible, strongly believing that these can offer positive outcomes for families and that court proceedings should only be a last resort.

Having gone through her own divorce, Madeleine understands the emotional impact that separation can have on an individual and their family. Madeleine trained as a divorce coach to provide clients with emotional and practical support in addition to legal advice. She encourages her clients to separate with dignity and focus on a more positive future.

Outside of work, Madeleine enjoys travelling and spending time with her daughter.
