Lucy Linington represented a defendant who appeared before Portsmouth Crown Court for sentence on 8 October 2026 where he faced a single charge of violent disorder, arising from the illegal migrant protests that took place in Portsmouth 6 September 2026.
A group of 114 illegal migrants were escorted to Eastney Marina, in Portsmouth by the Coastguard and Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). A large crowd gathered, a major incident was declared and approximately 150 police officers were deployed.
Lucy addressed the Judge fully in this case, advancing the client’s personal mitigation and detailed submissions on sentence. In doing so, Lucy successfully persuaded the Judge to impose a suspended sentence order with a number requirements attached to a Community order.
