Churchers recently welcomed seven law students from a range of universities for a week of work experience. The restrictions of the pandemic meant it had been two years since we had been able to hold a placement scheme like this.
The trainees had the opportunity to attend court and support members of the team as they conducted placements in a wide range of departments in different offices. All of the trainees recently completed or are embarking on their LPC certificates and Law Degrees, with one trainee beginning a second career in law.
Applicants to the placement scheme were selected based on the quality of their CVs and covering letter – just like they would have to do if applying for a permanent position.
Associate Louise Jack said: ‘Work experience is key for those who wish to pursue a career in law. In days gone by, it used to be ‘who you know’ that got your foot in the door. At Churchers, we pride ourselves in selecting talent. The feedback regarding the work the candidates put in was really positive. The placement scheme is all about mentoring young lawyers and seeing them flourish. This is the first step in hopefully a long and successful career for them all’.
